Louth Museum – Grand Old Man of Lincolnshire: Henry Winn

Grand Old Man of Lincolnshire – Henry Winn

This lecture will be held in Louth Methodist Church, Nichol Hill.

Jean is the founder of the Sir Joseph Banks Society and Chairman of the Henry Winn Legacy Project.  She is also a Board member of the Spilsby Sessions House Project which aims to restore the Court House to create a hub for artistic activity.  For some years she was a co-ordinator of fund-raising for Air Ambulance.  She now concentrates on writing books and will bring copies of her latest book about tonight’s subject.

Jean’s talk will introduce us to Henry Winn’s many roles in the village of Fulletby during the Victorian period: shopkeeper, schoolmaster, parish clerk, overseer of the poor, surveyor of highways and historian.  The information comes from his diaries, essays and letters which provide eyewitness accounts of activity and developments in the village during his long and very busy life.

The lectures in 2023 will be held either in the Methodist Church in Nichol Hill, LN11 9NQ, or online using Zoom. Visitors or members may request a Zoom link by emailing start.david@btinternet.com.
