Centre for Fenland Studies

The Fenland Heritage Network along with Spalding Gentlemen’s Society and Ayscoughfee Hall Museum opened the Centre for Fenland Studies on Saturday 29th June 2024.

The Centre will bring together Local historians, local history groups, heritage organisations and academic institutions with an interest in the Fenland region, with the following specific aims.

  • Providing a focus for research into the Fenlands.
  • Making available that research to academics and the local community.
  • Supporting local engagement to promote an appreciation of the region.
  • Projects to help understand and appreciate the heritage of the Fenlands.

The facility will provide

  • A research and reading room.
  • Local History Book Collection.
  • Local and National Map Collection.
  • Print Collection and Other Local Artefacts
  • Access to online research material and sources.

The Centre is located on the first floor of Ayscoughfee Hall and initially access to the room can be arranged by calling 07831 323062 or emailing fenland@scsoc.org
