Tom Thumb’s visit to Spalding:
Charles Sherwood Stratton (1838 to 1883), better known by his stage name “General Tom Thumb”, was an American with Dwarfism who achieved great fame as a performer under circus pioneer P.T.Barnum.
On his 21st birthday (1859), he was 2 feet 10 inches (86 cm) tall.
One of his calling cards is in the Spalding Gentlemen’s Society Museum.
