Steffie Shields examines the relevance of the celebrated 18C Lincolnshire antiquarian to passing on the story of the garden and how his designs, observations and surveys help to enrich our understanding and enjoyment of today’s heritage gardens.
Steffie Shields MBE, BA Hons, Liverpool Hope University, is a professional garden photographer, writer, and historic landscape consultant based in Lincolnshire. Her illustrated book ‘Moving Heaven and Earth: Capability Brown’s Gift of Landscape’ (Unicorn Press) was a Garden Media Guild Awards finalist for 2016 ‘Inspirational Book of the Year’. A Vice-President of the Gardens Trust, and chair, Lincolnshire Gardens Trust, Steffie was awarded the M.B.E in 2018 for services to conservation and heritage.
