Weird and Wonderful Stone Carvings in Local Parish Churches

The speaker at our meeting on Friday 14th March will be Lionel Wall, who has been interested in medieval churches for many years. While studying the grotesque figures that ornament some local churches, he identified distinctive styles which suggest that individual stonemasons worked on more than one building. He will illustrate his talk with examples of the whimsical, eccentric and sometimes vulgar images that they created.

His presentation begins at 7.30 pm in the main hall of the Community Centre, Market Deeping. Admission is £3 for non-members.
