Deepings Heritage, Market Deeping – Quern Stones and Millstones
The history of quern stones and millstones in domestic life
At our meeting on Friday, 10th April, Steve Critchley will describe how households from Neolithic times to the early medieval era depended on the use of quern stones to produce flour for their daily needs. Steve is a geologist and will bring specimens of different types of stone which were used to make querns.
Meetings are held between September and May on the second Friday of the month. They commence at 7.30 pm in the main hall of the Community Centre in Douglas Road, Market Deeping, PE6 8PA (behind the Police Station).
Entrance is £1 for members and £3 for non-member
