Feisty Females: Writing Lincolnshire’s Medieval Women

Historical fiction is the hybrid child of two warring parents: fact and fiction. Hear how writer and journalist, Rosanna McGlone, threads historical fact into exciting narratives.

How did she begin her research for Feisty Females, which is based on a medieval book second only to the Domesday Book? What are the challenges of writing historical fiction? And is it ever acceptable to tweak the truth?

Women featured in the book include Nicholaa de la Haye, Alice de Lacy and Gwenllian. This talk will be of interest to anyone who is interested in reading historical fiction, anyone who is setting out on their own writing journey, and anyone who celebrates Lincolnshire’s famous females.

Praise for Feisty Females

‘I loved reading the stories of these inspirational women from my native Lincolnshire. This lively and engaging book brings a fascinating cast of historical characters to life.’ – Professor Tracey Borman OBE, author, historian and broadcaster.

‘A medieval treasure chest crammed with jewels of unexpected stories and engaging characters. The personalities and stories McGlone has created are wonderful and so alive. I really loved them.’ – Karen Maitland, author of The Owl Killers.
