CAS, Cambridge – Fenland Landscapes, Sediments and Archaeology

4th July, 7.30 pm.

Fenland landscapes, sediments and archaeology: ancient past,
complex present and uncertain future.

by Phil Stastney (McDonald Institute).

This talk will give a whistle-stop tour through the rich history of archaeological and
palaeoecological research in the Fens, illustrating how the human history of the region,
past, present and future, is entwined with the complex sequence of sediments and peats
that characterise the Fenland. Phil will share some initial results from the Fenscapes
Project, a new initiative hosted at the McDonald Institute. Rampton Village Hall, Rampton,
Cambridge CB24 8QA. (FEAG).
